With due respect to the Basler people but I sincerely hope that they are not going to modify this beauty with PT6s
Le DC 3 a la cote ces temps-ci...

It's not a DC-3. If it has military markings, it's a C-47.
Steve Cravener
Sorry Steve, the markings do not make it a C-47. But, it was built as a C-47, I dont't really feel like checking my database, but I am willing to say that this was converted to a DC-3C after the war.

That's the Bluebonnet Belle out of Burnet, Tx. She was built as. C47 in Oklahoma City in 1944. The Belle is maintained and flown by the Highland Lakes CAF squadron. We lost an engine during the Oshkosh airshow and spent the winter at Basler while we located an engine. The Basler folks provided some incredible support for us during this time

Adding to Gary Thorne's excellent information... this C-47B was procured with USAAF s/n 43-49942, and was Douglas c/n 27203. It originally went to Great Britain's RAF as a Dakota IV and was later transferred to Canada's RCAF in 1946 according to Joe Baugher's published information.

More info is found here on the Highland Lakes Squadron's website...

I was fortunate to have captured photos of "Bluebonnet Belle" at the Barksdale AFB airshow some years ago.

Piling on Gary's comment about the outstanding support from Basler in our time of need! With Basler's support, Belle flew home to Burnet in May 2016 and was a star of the CAF's Wings Over Dallas show last Oct (2016).

Most recently, she carried over 24,000 lbs of relief supplies to Hurricane Harvey victims in Beaumont and Orange, TX.

Incredible machine and the members of the Highland Lakes Sq of the CAF are proud to be her caretaker!

Too bad she is gone now....runway slide off & fire July 2018.

Yes, Ken... she's departed from us now... but will be never forgotten. I'm very glad that I was able to capture photo images of Bluebonnet Belle at an airshow c. 2005.
