American Airlines' first Boeing 787 Dreamliner was spotted shortly after it emerged from a Boeing paint facility in Everett, Wash., during the pre-dawn hours of Thursday (Oct. 30) morning.

The aircraft is expected to be delivered to American by year's end, which would make AA the second U.S. carrier to have a Dreamliner in its fleet. United already flies both the original 787-8 and the newer, bigger 787-9 versions of the jet.

Images of American's first 787-8 were captured by Seattle-based photojournalist Jeremy Dwyer-Lindgren, who allowed Today in the Sky to publish one of the photos.

Writing for Airways News, Dwyer-Lindgren says "American anticipates operating its initial aircraft on domestic routes between its myriad US hubs early in 2015. But aside from that, very little is known about the airline's Dreamliner plans."
