Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras (AD, São Paulo Viracopos) has become the third operator of the A320neo in Brazil following the delivery of its first A320neo, PR-YRA (cn 7186), at Belo Horizonte Tancredo Neves on Thursday, October 20. Other operators include LATAM Airlines Brasil (JJ, São Paulo Congonhas) and Avianca Brasil (São Paulo Congonhas).

The Brazilian LCC has yet to confirm an exact date for the type's entry into service but previous reports have pointed to a November 25 debut. Initially, the A320neo will be used on daily return flights from Fortaleza International to São Paulo Viracopos with Recife to follow thereafter.

Azul has thirty-five A320neo on order from Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) with lessors AerCap to provide twenty and GECAS to provide eight. All aircraft are to be powered by CFM International LEAP-1A motors.
