German flag carrier Lufthansa today said beginning this summer it will fly Airbus A350-900s to connect Munich with Mumbai .
From April 16, Mumbai will be the third destination worldwide to welcome the newest long haul aircraft A350s on the Munich-Mumbai route, it said in a statement.
Earlier this month, Lufthansa has been flying a350-900 from New Delhi.
The A350-900 aircraft is the world's most modern and environmentally friendly long-haul aircraft as it consumes 25 per cent less fuel and produces 25 per cent fewer emission, while the noise footprint is up to 50 per cent lower than a comparable aircraft models.
The A350-900 plane can carry 293 passengers: 48 in Business class, 21 in Premium economy and 224 in Economy.
