Boeing nets more than double Airbus' orders for new planes in 1Q 2014

Boeing said on Thursday it had won 275 gross orders or 234 net orders in the first quarter. Airbus ended the quarter with 158 new orders or 103 net orders after adjusting for cancellations. Some suggest the dramatic drop-off at Airbus is related to a deliberate attempt to decrease and/or completely eliminate the smaller A350-800 variant, in favor of a reengined but much older A330neo, that might be announced later in the year.
