KLM Cityhopper Orders 17 E-Jets to Replace Its Remaining Fokker 70s
KLM Cityhopper, KLM’s regional subsidiary, has placed a firm order for 15 Embraer 175s and two E190s. The Dutch carrier’s purchase contract for the 17 Embraer E-Jets also includes an option for 17 additional E-Jets for KLM Cityhopper or Hop!, Air France’s regional subsidiary. a sound business decision. The newest Fokker aircraft was finished early 1997 (a year after the company went tango-uniform) less than 50 F70's built in total, only in production 4-5 years. parts and maint will probably start to loom on the horizon. A smaller carrier/charter could get some life out of them, but a legacy carrier probably wants to keep an eye on fleet commonality.
