Thomson Boeing 787, engine shut down in flight over Atlantic

A Thomson Airways Boeing 787-800, registration G-TUIE performing flight BY-157 (dep Aug 4th) from Puerto Plata (Dominican Republic) to Manchester,EN (UK) with 288 people on board, was enroute at FL410 about 550nm west of Terceira Island (Portugal) when the crew needed to shut the right hand engine (GEnx) down due to a low oil pressure indication. The aircraft drifted down to FL230 and divert to Terceira's Lajes Airport for a safe landing on runway 15 about 90 minutes later. (avherald.com) More...
