Well I'd say they are likely to get less perfect with the evolving entry level requirements versus the current entry level pay! They don't have to be tired when they start out behind the power curve. Airbus has shown that computerizing the airplane to the nth degree just makes for a more complex accident investigation! So bring on that high tech and low pay, and then throw in duty times and commuting. The myth of perfection and a perfect safety record is just that, a myth. And yes, flap setting errors on takeoff have been the direct cause of airplane accidents since the advent of high lift devices and jet airplanes with their high takeoff speeds. No matter how good the safety record, it will be forever difficult to turn 460 Knts. in cruise and 130 over the fence into a 0 accident rate.
