Thom Richard in the P-40 ?
jesse kyzer

Great Photo !

The P-40 had the perfect profile for the shark nose. I can imagine those Japanese pilots freaking when they looked in their rearview mirror and saw JAWs coming.

just for the record, the A6M Zero was faster and could out turn all other aircraft of that period.

Shot with a Nikon D600, 28-300, from the back of a T-6. Superior flying from all involved.
Don Ridgeway
Brilliant shot, a definite keeper

A6M Zero top speed is 351 mph.
It can't out run them.

@Mark; first instruction in ACM is "NEVER fly in straight lines"

@Mark; stats vary upon the resources cited
A6M-2 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_A6M_Zero#Specifications_(A6M2_(Type_0_Model_21))
gives a feather-weight 2796 kg with maxV 331mph

P40-E https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curtiss_P-40_Warhawk#Specifications_(P-40E)
gross weight of 3862 kg with maxV 334 mph

The weight/power ratio favors the Zero -- Put the Zero in a climbing turn and it just runs away
Doug Fehmel
Beautiful shot, Seth.
