Ken Mitchell
AND a P-3C Orion, which is the better ASW airplane.

Ken I'm not sure if your comment is a statement or a question. Both aircraft have very similar capabilities. I would guess that one advantage the P-3 has over the P-8 would be it's ability to shut down 2 engines and remain on station (loiter)for longer missions. P-3 crews log a lot of flight time. They are notorious loiterer's.
CHRIS ROBEY
Amen to that Ken. In a twin you are only (e.g. a mandatory shutdown low oil pressure warning) from being in a single engine a/c and a thousand miles from land.

Thanks all for the info. I agree, the Orion can definitely do some stuff the Poseidon can't.
