Beechcraft 35 Bonanza (N2191D)

Ppick... when I saw this V-tailed Bonanza, I instantly thought it must be one of your aircraft photo captures!!!

Why do you say that cliff? Any V-tail is my favorite model of the Bonanza! I think it was and is an engineering marvel!

Ppick... first, this looks like one of your photos (a compliment, by the way)... and second, I knew how much you liked the V-tail Bonanza aircraft.

Thanks as always cliff! As an "amateur" photographer, I always try to be sure and make sure my settings are correct for the conditions, sun, clouds, etc; to get the crispest photo. I love looking at the new photos and there are some wonderful photos here on FA. What is your opinion of the person that jumbles up the photo page with the blurry photos at cruise altitude? I live in Louisiana and get the international flights over my house every day on the way to Houston. The A380's, Triple 7's and I have the lense to shoot them and are crisp where you can read the reg. number if it's under the wing but I prefer posting photos that I personally went to the airport and shot. It's just my opinion but the way he is posting the blurry photos to me is just being a lazy aviation "enthusiast".

It's obvious that you have a good photographer's "eye" for proper exposure, lighting and composition... all essential to the art of photography. This shows in your photos that I see on FA. Too, you are fortunate to reside where you do with the huge variety and availability of military and civil aircraft to capture images of, which you obviously take great advantage of!

As to the other photographer you mention, I will express my considered opinion as you have requested. I've seen him post some very fine and quality photo work of static and moving aircraft captured up close.

Those other photos you mention of the aircraft at cruise altitude... this is what I believe - this person's efforts in that regard are not to produce "art" photographs, but rather a combined synthesis of FA's tracking information with a captured photo image of the aircraft being tracked as it flies overhead him (at cruise altitude). I believe that is his only intent... nothing more and nothing less.

I've sometimes viewed a flight going overhead where I live... and was sufficiently curious to try and identify that aircraft by using FA's tracking information. This guy is just taking an additional step and adding a photo to the same effort and posting it up on FA's site.

For what it's worth, and as I understand, his mobility is very restricted in the traditional sense and that presents unique challenges and barriers to him in capturing photographs as You and I would normally take for granted. Also, I'll guess that his budget for camera equipment is restrained and that might preclude him from buying more powerful zoom lenses as would be ideal for such photos. Quality glass is very expensive to say the least.

That's my opinion only... but I think it might explain the "why" and "how" somewhat.

Cliff, that last paragraph explains a lot. Thanks for the insight! I didn't think about age or mobility and it might be hard to go out to an airport and photograph. I've never commented on his photos asking why he post the photos he does and have never voted his photos down. Was just curious? I prefer looking at amateur photos because of the variety of aircraft you see here on FA than looking at "pro" shot photos you see on sites like airliners.net. Thanks again!

Those are good words, Paul... and you certainly represent the Flight Aware community very well indeed. And like you, I don't go anywhere else to appreciate fine amateur aviation photography than here on Flight Aware!!!

I'm looking forward to attending the next Defenders of Liberty Airshow at Barksdale AFB this 6-7 May, 2017. The Navy's Blue Angels will be performing. Hope to see you there also!

My son and I go one of the two days, depending on weather, and the the day we don't go on Base, there is a US Army Corp of Engineers office next to the North "freight" gate and has a large parking lot. You are about 150-200 yards from the chevrons on runway 15 and can great profile shots of the aircraft landing. Also we will go to the parking lot because whether it be the Thunderbirds or Blue Angels, they arrive two days prior to the Air show and depending on weather, they practice their demo twice a day for those two days prior to the Air show. Able to get some great shots during practice because you are in the airshow airspace and not where the spectators are on Base.
It would be nice to meet you in person. Once the schedule gets closer and they put statics on the website, we could pick a time and a certain aircraft to meet at.
