Beechcraft Super King Air 200 (16-3559)

This was one of three military C-12s I caught at RNO within six hours. One was this USMC bird, one was Navy, and one was Army. There were also three USMC F-18s, two USN F-5s, and a C-17. Lots of warbird iron at Reno.
BTW, this is the first photo of 163559 to be presented in the FA gallery.

Does anyone know when the Marines got rid of the red strip in the horizontal bar of the U.S. insignia?

I actually flew this aircraft when it was assigned to MCAS Iwakuni(RJOI)in Japan. She is a great old lady. Never lost a mission to maintenance while flying her. Iwakni received newer King Air 350's and Torii 59 as she was known as was reassigned to another site. The missing red bar on the star and bar insignia reflects the subdued paint scheme we adopted in the Western Pacific and subsequently used on most OSA aircraft. You would be surprised at the type of missions she was used for in addition to administrative and passenger flights.
