Except that it's not actually a DC-3, but rather a C-47 Skytrain (or perhaps even a C-53 Skytrooper) which was the military derivation of the DC-3. The Astrodome behind the cockpit is the giveaway.

Spot on observation there Alan! For sure a C-47, not sure the C-53s has the astrodome since -53s we’re pretty much commercials DC-3s that were retrofitted for military service. I’d have to do some more research and get back to you
