P2V-5F. Gives new meaning to the term "jet prop." The original "hybrid" aircraft.

Are we post war and passenger transport?
Can see the shadow of a military might. Nice one.

Two turning , two burning

I flew the Navy's last operational mission in this beast. Strong airplane but a true "Truckulent Turtle".....

Didn't this one have 4360's!
Tom McIntyre
Make that "Truculent Turtle". The P2V-5F had R-3350-32W engines rated at 3500 HP... Augmented by two J34 jets rated at 3250 lbs of thrust. They both used a common fuel system which was 115/145 Avgas. An explosive combination...

Neptune Air Service........I used to fly for them, then went to Aero Union and flew P-3's until the Forest Service shut them down.

Loved watching these planes as a kid in Okinawa, Naha NAF, 1960's, we lived right across the HWY from the hangers. They were my favorite acrft back then.

Nice touch with the American Flag in the nose
