I wonder if anyone beside author Dale Brown has ever considered replacing the eight Turbo-jets on a B-52 with 4 huge Turbo-Fans? Is it feasible?

BTW, great photo.

Thanks...

Great aircraft and great shot. Deserves more than the 4.25 rating on the votes.

Perhaps with stronger wings it could be a 4 fans ship but is it worth the effort for such an iconic aircraft? The USA needs a new heavy bomber or reopen the B1 Lancer lines!

Skyhawkrg - what you are inquiring in regards to has been proposed by Boeing to the U.S.A.F. in the past. As I understand, based upon a GAO study a decision was made to continue with the current configuration. However, apparently the Air Force is again looking at proposals to re-engine the B-52 fleet.

Dale Brown's novel, "Flight of the Old Dog", is a "must read"!

Jennifer;

A new Heavy design would be fine as long as it doesn't turn into the "F-35" of bombers. The brass has a tendency to spend $10.00 when $1,00 would be enough :=(

Re: my previous comment, 'The brass has a tendency to spend $10.00 when $1,00 would be enough' should be 'The brass has a tendency to spend $10.00 when $1.00 would be enough'
