Moving a step closer to first delivery next month, the US Federal Aviation Administration awarded Boeing a production certificate for the 787-10 on 15 February, the manufacturer says.

The approval means Boeing is authorised officially to produce the 330-seat airliner.

Boeing plans to deliver the first 787-10 to Singapore Airlines in March. Customers have ordered more than 170 787-10s since the programme launched in 2013.

The largest of the three 787 variants is assembled exclusively in North Charleston, South Carolina. The site also produces the 787-9 and 787-8, along with Boeing’s widebody final assembly complex in Everett, Washington.
