TSA doing road inspections in Tennessee
PORTLAND, Tenn. – You're probably use to seeing TSA's signature blue uniforms at the airport, but now agents are hitting the interstates to fight terrorism with Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response (VIPR). "Where is a terrorist more apt to be found? Not these days on an airplane more likely on the interstate," said Tennessee Department of Safety & Homeland Security Commissioner Bill Gibbons. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is perfectly capable of providing this type of enhanced security. Ridiculous waste of taxpayer money when services are duplicated.
AMEN!!!!!!!!
Agreed
Does this mean when I get pulled over, I now have to put my hands in plain sight AND take my shoes off??
I do not believe that the TSA are actually ‘sworn’ officers, therefore stopping, searching or arresting anyone requires a real officer. If my assumption is correct, isn’t the redundancy a waste of manpower (i.e. money). In the airport, they can get away with the searches because you are basically ‘volunteering’ to be searched as a condition of transport. Perhaps a there is a certified police officer, on this forum, who can provide some enlightenment on this.
@Wayne B. I sure hate to be a pessimist but we are in pretty deep. It is going to take more than a change of President for a cure. As a foreign leader said lately "the US will get past Obama. The problem is that the people elected him in the first place." Sounds a whole lot like your dumbed down statement was in play.
