Not very surprising for southwest. If anyone will come out of this stronger it will be them.

That tends to happen when you have a sale for $49.00s one way lol.

Now that stuff is starting to open people have a reason to travel. Ticket price is pretty meaningless when theme parks, casinos, hotels, etc are closed and you can't visit Grandma without a cavity search and a hazmat suit.

I was on a $29 one-way flight...with 6 other people. Twice. Low price isn't enough when people are fearful. More bookings than cancellations is a turning point where fear gives way to reality.

They've been running that sale since early April. If it were just cheap fares, this headline would've happened by April 15th.

The government has done too good of a job scarring people.

Did you mean scaring people? There will be a number of people emotionally scarred by this. Not to mention 100K+ too dead to be scared.

LOL, we have 4% of the world's population and 30% of the Covid deaths, and even those are undercounted.

You are missing the number of TESTS we are doing. More than any other country,

an airline just like People's Express (the pioneer of low frills/cost airlines)..Head em out and move em on...just like cattle with no seat assignment so people scramble for seats of choice to be first. The only thing SWA does not do like P.E. did was go up and down the aisle with a credit card machine.

Won't ever travel on a full capacity flight again.

How will you know if it is full or not until you get there? Then what will you do - ask to bump yourself to the next flight? What if it is full...

the article states "modest improvement" for southwest, with capacity of 25-45 % on airplanes..i guess when the flights have been empty, this is a turning point..summer vacation travel will show the true picture...
