Lancair IV crashed into a car on Interstate 50 miles north of San Diego

Crash on I15, Lancair.

Sounds like the pilot was stuck with a decision to avoid the airfield because of people then unluckily hit a parked auto on the highway shoulder.

Lancair Crashes on I-15,

It was owned at one time by Matt Nokes (major league baseball player) whom landed on I-15 when its engine quit on its 2nd flight. That turned out ok, this however, tragically ended in a fatality in a vehicle it rear ended. Owner and passenger on the A/C have minor injuries.

Small plane crashes on California freeway, hits car, kills 1

Witnesses said the single-engine plane appeared to be having problems before it banked west and came down, California Highway Patrol Officer Chris Parent said. One man said he didn’t hear the plane’s engine as it flew overhead.
