Shadow of Alaska 1380 landing at San Diego KSAN Thursday 11 November 2022. Landing at KSAN is always a treat, descending so low over the city. This day at this time produced a crystal clear almost mesmerizing shadow jumping up and down on streets and buildings. (www.youtube.com) More...

Ah, yes! I remember so well that parking garage on short final!! Often wondered how many cars had dead batteries from noise or movement activated alarms! 😜

Yeah, I was waiting for it too [0:35] since I've flown into SAN countless times. I'm not sure if this is true but years ago I thought I read where the FAA actually made a mistake in their calculations in allowing that structure. Seems that under certain conditions a 747 would clip the edge if all the tolerances went the wrong way.

Tolerance stacking, the bane of engineers everywhere.

Thought they had closed the roof to parking. Never really liked the approach in San Diego. Still miss PSA!

A few years back the FAA was going to let them ADD floors to the parking garage. Thankfully, ALPA convinced them otherwise.

And to think the FAA was going to let the parking garage add a couple of floors a few years back. Thanks to ALPA they nixed it.

Terrific video! Grew up in San Diego - this approach goes right over the Naval Hospital and the Aerospace Museum.
