As a Canadian who spent ten years growing up in the US and having visited all 50 states more than once, I will say that I am shocked and saddened with the events of the last 6 weeks or so. As a Canadian, I understand that it isn't the people of the US that are being so dumb, even though the majority did vote for the current administration. We are also angry and insulted. Being accused of being a major source of drugs and and illegal immigration is absurd. In both cases, Canada accounts for less than 0.1% of the "problem." Being accused of being subsidised by the US is ridiculous. We happen to have much of what the US needs to maintain the economy, in spite of what the US administration claims. The US buys more from us than we buy from the US. The US administration is being childish and insulting, something you see on the playgrounds of elementary and junior high schools. I can assure you that we will never become the 51st state and we sure don't want to. We will never be taken over by the US. We would fight to the very end to defend our country, which is the best in the world. We are pissed...and I apologise for our current attitude...so sorry about that. However, if the US ever needs our help, which has happened more than once recently, we will be the first in line to do just that!
