Yes. It can be controlled by the autopilot and manually. Either way faults can cause a runaway.

Agree. Wouldn't you think that by now software engineering would have a deep knowledge base of known issues, interactions and outcomes.

goodness! since the 737 is one of the most widely used aircraft around by many airlines, I would hope the faa would recognize and address an emergency issue..

Not to poopoo the situation, but the MAX entered the market a little over 1.5 years ago. This order doesn't affect any 73's most of us think of.

SCOTT..AS I DID OUT OF CURIOSITY,YOU CAN PULL UP ON MORE THAN ONE WEBSITE, THE NUMBER OF AIRLINES USNG THE OLDER VERSION OF THE737,AS WELL AS THE NUMBER OF AIRLINES USING THE MAX NEWER VERSION..THE MAIN PURCHASERS IN THE U.S. HAVE BEEN UNITED,AMERICAN AND OF COUSE SOUTHWEST, WHOSE ENTIRE FLEET IS 737'S..THE FIRST OF THE NEWER ONES CAME INTO SERVICE IN 2016..

well..sorry..when a person starts typing, (at least me) sometimes we get halfway through the thought before realizing the "caps" were on!..im not shouting..i understand commenting or "blogging" or whatever is different than the good old fashioned way of writing a note or a comment..being considerate is to not criticize others for writing or punctuation, or sometimes even spelling as some do..no one is perfect, and courtesy does count..have a wonderful day, and may your vision always be 20/20!!

Its known as an AD you know something like the Airbus one when it dove into the water a few years back due to bad design.
