John, could I perhaps suggest that you are confusing hysteria with criticism, for example Trump's treatment of President Zelenskyy when he was a guest in the White House, televised across the world, was totally uncalled for and an embarrassment for most fair minded people to see. Your President is supposed to be the leader of the free world and, on behalf of the American people and their allies, should act accordingly. All we witnessed was a bad tempered playground bully throwing his weight around like an immature sulky teenager. Have you not actually considered that it is Trump that acted irrationally.

Is it really rational for your President to suggest Canada as the 51st US state?
Is it rational to suggest the takeover of Greenland?
Was it rational to oppose a UN resolution condemning Russia for invading Ukraine and vote with Russia, Iran, North Korea?
Trump thinks Ukraine started the war with Ukraine, do you honestly believe that?

I'm sorry but your condemnation of airline/aviation professionals is totally unfounded and if you really are going to 'stamp your feet' and quit being a member of FlightAware doesn't that rather make you the hysterical contributor here?

Surely better to acknowledge that we all have differing views and use this forum for sensible grown up discussions and accept that we won't always agree.

Given the trouble Boeing has converting the two new 747s for AF1 use, I see no way this used plane could possibly be reasonably converted and used as such. Maybe the USAF or some other agency could find a practical use for it, but it really looks like a white elephant at the moment.

He's a billionaire worth $5.5 billion. He wouldn't have made much more than he has now had he invested the money.
He went bankrupt with one company because of the gambling environment in Atlantic City (other casinos went out of business too) and he also went bankrupt with another company because of a change in NY laws.
Six of his companies have filed for BK yet he has over 400 successful businesses. Those successful businesses employ a lot of people, way more than those who lost jobs due to bankruptcies that weren't necessarily his fault.

I would take away that I already explained that 2 were not his fault so only 4 went bankrupt out of over 400 which is an excellent record.
I would also take away the fact that you concentrate on less than 1% instead of the more than 99% and then promptly disregard anything you say after that.

Regardless of how unwise an idea this is, it will take longer to retrofit and equip it for use at AF1, when they should focus on completing the two currently in Texas and avoid becoming distracted by further delays and cost overruns. The aircraft might be free, but it will still cost $100M+ to retrofit for this purpose.

The airplane is free for Trump. He will put it in his "library" after he's out of office...his library being a hangar that he can use to store the plane in until he wants to fly around in it.

it is not free for America's taxpayers who will have to foot the bill for the upgrades that will take it from a gaudy Qatar airplane to an Air Force plane capable of carrying the President of the United States.

Yes, a free plane that will cost over $600 billion, probably closer to $1 billion to bring up to spec for use as a VC series aircraft. A aircraft that will only be used firm], at best, 18 months, probably less. Then there is the cost to demilitarize the aircraft when it goes to his library. It makes perfect financial sense.

You are right. If it is not going to be converted into the VC25B requirements, it's a gift. I think Trump still charters is 757 to people. I bet he tries that with the donated jet before it goes into his own presidential library (after he gets one). If he makes money off that jet< I will say he did at least one good thing in his life. And even better if the profits trickle down to us.

It will be a "flying White House," providing the President with a safe and secure means of transport while enabling them to execute their duties. The VC-25B program is managed by the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center.

They were ordered by the Russian airline Transaero but the company folded before the airliners were delivered. The US purchased the airliners to be converted to VC-25B (the current 2 are VC-25A) but the requirements the military have written have required stripping the plane down do to airframe, upgrading some frame components, almost complete rewiring, upgrading power generation, electronics for comm, nuclear hardening, etc. I believe they have been in process 5 years now, since Trump 45. Even the color had to be changed to reflect radiation.
