He was convicted twice before for doing the same thing!! Why was he not punished severely enough in those cases?

Good. We had this idiot in Illinois breaking airplane windows and stealing stuff.
3 strikes and you're out. I guess the judge forgot about that. Slap on the wrist means he'll do it again.
I agree that given his background, that sentence is a slap on the wrist... Too bad the people that passed that law set the statutory maximum so low.
