Boeing learns lessons for 737 from 787 schedule overruns

Submitted

That Boeing has learnt its lesson from the overlong development of the 787 and 747-8 can be seen in the proposed timescale for the re-engined narrowbody, named the 737 Max, which the airframer launched on 30 August. (www.flightglobal.com) More...

I took the liberty of adding the word "schedule" to your title before "overruns," which has a double meaning in this situation.

By Jon Ostrower: I'm sure the author would not agree if he wanted schedule in his title he would have put it there. Now why would Boeing schedule and aircraft roll out four years late at massive cost.

The schedule is what's experiencing overruns, not the plane.

Was it a typo, or is the Leap-X 1B really 1012% more efficient than the CFM56-7BE currently used? If that's correct, that's an impressive jump, and long live the 737!

Is the "schedule" not on track due to supply chain management delays?

The people that put the A300 series engines further from the ground than the 737s, gave Airbus a head start.

Also, with reduced engine options, do you really believe that the new 737 will be 4% more "efficient" than the NEO?
