Submitted
ongrats to Sing. Airline with well organised care for passenger while waiting and already a survey to get feedback. 1-0 for SA. AF flight cancellation was much more chaotique and no request for feedback. Well i guess here it is! SINGAPORE (The Straits Times/Asia News Network): A Singapore Airlines flight which left Changi Airport early Monday (Nov 19) morning made a U-turn less than an hour after take-off, after pilots reported a drop in cabin pressure to air traffic controllers. I watched this unfolding on FlightRadar24 yesterday and wondered why, after their U-turn and rapid descent to FL 60 and then did a low-level transit back down the east coast of Malaysia, they did so many racetracks / orbits about 30-40 miles east of SIN. Perhaps they were unable to dump fuel for some reason, although I guess they were carrying a fair amount for the flight to CDG - anyone care to comment on the fuel-dump rate for a B773?
I also watched as SQ22 turned south-east away from it's original track of 045 in the general direction of EWR to apparently 'have a look' (it actually flew over the top of SQ336, with a separation of 6000 feet or so), but I then saw a couple more departures do the same thing so I guess they were all using the same SID. Not knowing what the emergency was at that point it seemed like a plausible explanation
