- The order size is notable. Much more significant is that Indigo, plagued by P&W GTF engine failures, will switch these Airbus orders to CFM-built engines. Quote from the referenced press notice :

"In June, IndiGo dropped its original engine supplier, United Technologies unit Pratt & Whitney, in favour of French-U.S. engine venture CFM by agreeing a record $20 billion deal for more than 600 engines to power Airbus jets already on order...

Indian regulators on Monday ordered IndiGo to modify its 16 earlier Airbus A320neo aircraft fitted with Pratt & Whitney engines, which have been linked to in-flight shutdowns, to avoid their grounding. "

Is IndiGo honestly that rich? I thought that Emirates was the richest airline in the world. It makes sense because IndiGo probably has investors it can depend on.

IndiGo Signs Blockbuster Order For 300 Airbus A320neo

India’s largest low-cost carrier, Indigo, has firmed up a blockbuster order for 300 Airbus A320neo family aircraft—one of the largest sales ever recorded by a single operator in Toulouse in the manufacturer’s 50-year history.

The order consists of a mix of A320neos, A321neos, and the recently launched A321XLR, bringing the Indian carrier’s Airbus fleet to 730 aircraft.
