Delta 9918 designation
Eyeballed this flight overhead at 3000 feet on Saturday, 18th April. An odd altitude and vector for my neighborhood. Found the sortie on FlightAware. The designation 9918 seems to be common for such loops. Is this a maintenance shakedown? (flightaware.com) More...

Flights out of our airport that begin with 9 are repos. They have no passengers. Dispatch has decided the plane is needed elsewhere.
Okay so flights starting with 9 are repos?? This must have been a test flight at it flown back into the same airport it took off from.
I have observed that 4 digit Delta flight numbers are often chartered. The one's I am aware of are for moving sporting teams from city to city.

Sorry - fat fingered it. 9981 is the designation, not 9918.
