factually, American has only put into hiatus a few city-pairs that are not smart to operate for a while, using the 787's long range utility. FLights come and go depending, so medical and political winds may change a bit and we get resumption or something like it to South America and Asia.

Covid 19 is only one part of the picture. There is much political unrest in Asia, especially with China. That will probably go on long after Covid 19 dies down. American is smart to see this and move forward with other alternatives.
