Delta's $2 Billion in-flight upgrades; Return of Customer Service or Gimick?

Gimick! Does anyone remember free movies in coach & not paying for checked bags? Flying gets more like Trailways everyday. Maybe one day pilots will make as much as bus drivers? Just a thought?!
Indeed, I know quite a few regional guys making much less than many a self-respecting bus driver. Heck, I know quite a few pilots that would take turbine time for no pay at all (I may or may not be among them) ^^
Good thing its not just about the pay.

Those were the days. Problem is now, unless you are on something long, there is not enough time to fool with a lot of this. With barely an hour from, say, MEM to ATL, there's hardly enough time there to get a laptop out of the case, let alone hooked up, cuse not much longer after you hook it up they are announcing to put it up. Oh Well
For any trip where I could drive door-to-door in 7 hours or less, I always drive. A few months ago I drove from Fort Lauderdale to a conference hotel in Jacksonville in 5 hours. The quickest flight from FLL - Jax was 4 1/2 hours (through ATL). When you added drive times to/from each airport, time for checking in, security, bags, picking up a rental car, driving to the conference hotel, etc. I estimated that I would saving about 2 - 3 hours of time, $300-$400 in airfare and a ton of aggravation by driving instead of flying.
I used to love flying. Now I avoid it as much as I can, not as much as I would like to avoid it.

Wayne, I would bet it is almost just as fast to drive that distance if you consider the time to drive to the airport, get your ticket, get through security, wait for boarding, wait for pushout, taxi, ATC release, fly to the destination, deboard, get to your lugage area and wait for it, find the rental car location, get your rental car, and drive to where you need to be. Oh, I left out weather or any other delays or re-routing.
For me, the one thing that would make the flying experience more enjoyable would be to have more space between me and the seat in front of me when I have to sit in the coach/cattle section.
