Well, there apparently have been more than what has been reported in this forum. Of course well known was the teenager that fell out over Boston last year after a flight from Charlotte. I think a lawsuit has been filed as you are supposed to know the mind of a teenager, and then there was a guy last year in South Africa running from security and he ducked into the well of an outbound 747 and wound up in London, very dead, so there is no rhyme or reason to it. They seem to take no thought of the unforgiving environment they are about to enter nor that they are comitting proverbial suicide. I guess if it gets bad enough, somebody will make us something for the wheelwells to let us know somebody is there. Just something else to buy and keep fixed because people cannot use common sense to know what is going to happen. We can't let them hurt themselves.

135 for a company out of KFSM. Retired in 09 as Flight Ops Director and lead Pilot on our 757. Back doing fill in.They bought a CRJ200 in December. Sorry, due to contract, can't tell you who, and planes, as well as all our certs are blacked out with FAA. They get grumpy about stufff like that but I started in 73 and it's always been the same.lol

I wish that these articles would state the type aircraft. I realize that the dead person is the main subject. Yet, it makes it more interesting to know the model of the airplane.

Most likely it was their 767-33AER (TJ-CAC). They also have two 737-700s, and are planning to acquire a 777 in the near future.

Oh man...this is a good one! In my 30yrs...haven't had a human in the "Well" but I've had everything else! If you don't know it or in my case with a deer on rotation...we took that "White Tail" from ORD to DET in the heat of summer! Not a pleasant sight.

Its actually really sad humans resort to this, sad that their own governments can't or won't provide opportunities for their citizens to empower themselves.

Also, isn't there some kind of warning system that lets air crews know there is extra weight on the landing gear?

Ground personel in African airports especially this region are notorioulsy corrupt, they will take payments for or just take anything they can get away with..which is a lot. They work on the crony system and it is very well organized. The international airport in Lagos Nigeria has some of the most systematic theivery rings going and will help anyone out for a price. The over the fence activity is extraordianry from the top down. This kinda thing happens all the time and lot of people, pilots and security as well look the other way for their own saftey concerns...It may look organized but its the law of the jungle every day.There is nothing very shocking about this story,. most people have no idea in this country how thick the violence and corruption truly is...there is a new isolated war going on everyday amonst tribal outfits.

Just for fun..there was a time in Lagos where Radar personnel and ground people took bribes to keep the runway lights on at night, some would literally shut off taxi way lights and guide aircraft to a radar and lighting fee station, extortion to the max..Bribery is a daily way of life, Its has cleaned up some but another syndicate is around the corner waiting for entry. Humans in nose gear wheel wells is nothing.

Missed an asshole racked up in a wheelwell? Maybe! The guy that did the walkaround would probably have missed a deflated strut, flat tire, fluids pouring out of an engine nacelle, etc. etc. Ahhhh, life is good!

Nothing. Those that have been witnessed doing this jump a fence and climb onto the landing gear after the plane has left the terminal. Obviously a pilot's walk-around is not going to find this, as he is.... in the cockpit taxing the airplane.

My car has an interior motion sensor. If I park with the windows down or sunroof open it sounds off if anything makes ingress. Industrial ovens won't fire if a human is inside with the doors closed. These devices are cheap, reliable, and need to be fitted to unihabitable areas of aircraft. Humanity demands it, and civilization should pay for it.

Ross: I am more than a spotter, and I don't really think it is insensitivity. It is something that would make anybody shake their head in disbelief if they have been around aviation any at all. That said, we were not walking in their shoes and don't know what desparation or situation they were running from. Whatever it was, it overode any other situation of life that was around them and they were singleminded to leave whatever situation they were in. BTW, are you from out in SW OK around Lawton. I was raised with a good friend by that last name.
