Wait, I thought B6 disliked the E-190, not just because of high maintenance costs; I thought the size was not optimal and the dispatch reliability was not great. The title of this article is misleading - nowhere does it say that B6 is choosing between the CSeries or E-jet E2. They are keeping all options open, it says. Based on what I've heard, I would be surprised if they go with another Embraer product.

Typical article written by a "know it all" journalist who has no idea how airlines work. The issue at the local level is not agents lying to customers - it's agents not getting any info, or the wrong info, from their local operations people, or from the airline's system operations control center. Then in other instances, the correct info IS given, but it's so dang complex that a $12/hr customer service rep doesn't understand, and explains the issue incorrectly. Running an airline is way more complex than even most road warriors think it is. Between the FAA/DOT/TSA regs, union contracts, IT complexities, maintenance procedures, maintenance scheduling, and so much else... there's a lot more to it than "why can't you just use a spare plane" when a flight is delayed. As a former big three airline manager, I get so ticked off when I read these stories by journalists who think they know everything. They haven't a clue.

Exactly. Everyone will complain about airlines no matter what. Regardless of what most passengers say - such as "I'd pay more for a meal" or "I'd pay 10 bucks more for an open seat next to me" - when presented with the options at booking, almost all go with the lowest fare, as long as the schedule works.... Regardless of carrier, service, on-time ratings, etc. The exceptions are biz travelers with unrestricted travel plans and, of course, Elite FF members. As another article I read recently said, passengers are getting exactly what they asked for, based on spending habits.

UAL has contract heavy maintenance in MCN. 2193/30JUN was likely a position flight back to IAD after maintenance work

So many of the quotes from Boeing execs state the lack of an engine in the required thrust range. I thought P&W introduced a 37K lb thrust version of the PW1100G? IIRC 37K was the thrust of the base P&W2000 series on the 757. Considering the new MOM aircraft will likely be composite, therefore weighing less, despite being slightly larger, wouldn't that engine work? I'm not an expert, just curious. There is really nothing else in the 40-50K thrust range that I'm aware of, other than the PW2000 series from the 57's which I read are extremely expensive to overhaul and gas-guzzlers compared to new products

Considering the C-series is struggling for orders, I don't think Boeing is the least bit concerned about that segment at all. Plus as others said, it's over-saturated with competition.

If that is how the design was intended to function, then why has this happened multiple times in the past year, all under different circumstances?

I believe Judy was a customer service (ticket) agent, not a flight attendant.
