A Delta Airlines Boeing 777-200, registration N705DN performing flight DL-201 from Johannesburg (South Africa) to Atlanta,GA (USA), was enroute over the Atlantic Ocean when the crew decided to divert to to Ascension Island [FHAW] for a safe landing due to an engine (GE90) problem. A replacement Boeing 777-200 registration N703DN is currently enroute to Ascension Island as flight DAL-9978 and is currently estimated to reach Atlanta with a delay of 27 hours. The plane had left KAUS this morning at 9:31 CT (https://flightaware.com/live/flight/N813WM/history/20180522/1400Z/KAUS/MHTG). The crash left nine people injured, (seven passengers and two crew members) all are in stable condition at this time. The Honduran Civil Aeronautics Directorate will carry out the pertinent investigations in order to gather the necessary information to determine the possible causes of this accident.
