A 56-year-old Maryland man died Sunday when the small plane he was piloting crashed in a cornfield near the York Airport in Jackson Township, according to the York County Coroners Office. The coroners office identified the man as Douglas Helms, of Westminster, Md. An autopsy on the mans body will be conducted Tuesday at Lehigh Valley Hospital. Helms left Frederick, Md., this morning at 11 a.m., it was unclear what his flight plan entailed, the coroners office reported. The crash marked the second fatal plane crash the area has seen in a little over a month.
