One thing I really miss from my childhood was going out to Mather AFB and watching the B-52G's from the 320th Bomb Wing.

chinaninarea51--Yeah, I know what you mean! As a teenager at Travis I loved to watch them as well. The MITO's (Minimum Interval Take Off) were incredible! The aircraft had the old, smoke-gushing, very noisy engines and the roar was thunderous! If one was anywhere near the airfield, he/she would not be able to speak and be heard from three feet away when those things were heading out. Where I live now in NE Texas, we're on the descent path into Barksdale, about 60 miles to the east of us and I can always tell when the BUFF's are overhead and if I'm home, I head out the door just to admire them even at my ripe old age of 61.
