Saw you had a private pilots license I am thinking of getting one how many years did it take you to get yours

Back in 1989 I got my VFR pilot's License.

back then, a Cessna 172 in NE WI was $36 an hour with fuel (now $129 with fuel).


I soloed with about 18 hours, license with cross countries & solo cross countries, check out with FAA Examiner...I believe did it in 60 hours.


Spent $4000 at that time. It took me 7 months to get the license and I only went flying about once a week with an instructor or by myself. Was lucky that the airport was 5 miles away and I had no dependents at the the time.
