Piper P32R-300 lands at racetrack
An airplane made a crash landing at Atlanta Motorsports Park in Dawsonville, according to the FAA. The aircraft is a Piper P32R-300. "Experienced some mechanical issues in flight. Not really that big a deal for one of the old NASCAR drivers as that's how he used to arrive at some tracks way back. Bobby Allison was the one, took a moment, he also carried Piper ads on some of his cars.
Not in a Lance they didn't. These are not exactly short field airplanes, and the T-tail version needed more runway than an early Citation on takeoff. He did good! The longest straight is 1'4 mile. Google earth it. Hope he mends well and buys a Bonanza with the insurance money.
Too bad he couldn’t make the adjoining airfield.
