The Irainian's are trying to lure a passenger aircraft in to their airspace, so they can claim to have shot down an "American spyplane" in retaliation for US support of Israel. I hope all pilots are aware how serious a navigation error could be in the current circumstances.

We had something similar while flying in Vietnam. The bad guys had ADF transmitters set up so as to guide you across a border and into anti-aircraft positions. The only guidance routinely available to army pilots was ADF, and limited radar. Very few VORS in Nam. The air force and navy used TACAN which army aircraft weren't equipped for.
