Air NZ pilot collapses after landing Dreamliner

Submitted

An Air New Zealand pilot collapsed at the controls of one of its new Dreamliners just after she landed it and later died, the airline says. Air New Zealand confirms the incident happened minutes after Captain Ann Barbarich landed the full plane at Perth after a flight from Auckland last Sunday. (www.stuff.co.nz) More...

Very sad. For her and her family. 4 pilots suggests a check ride in addition to the likely 2 + 1 regular crew. Almost sounds like the QF32 crew scenario. Glad that in spite of financial pressures that high class airlines still have such robust crew check procedures.
Our thoughts are with her family. RIP

May she rest in peace, she passed knowing that everyone was safe on the ground and doing her pilot thing. Always sad when a pilot goes west.

She died of a brain aneurysm. So natural causes if you like. Not related to aircraft.
Still a rare occurrence and yes it was a check flight. With a large part of her career on B747, which ANZ has just phased out, she was converting to B789, After 27 years of flying for ANZ mostly in 747.
