Odd Diversion N394AN out of PAE

Submitted

I do and ADS-B feed for "another site" (their equipment) and got a notice from them a short while ago of a flight squawking 7700. My info shows it as AA9614 (N394AN) out of PAE, and the track I have shows it descending into Tulsa from FL42. Looking it up here on FA though shows that tail number over the Atlantic, en route to Zurich from JFK as AAL64. Very strange. (flightaware.com) More...

I believe the 9000 series of flights are maintenance/check flights for AA (AMR)...and may have been testing the 7700 squawk ... coming from Boeing...to TUL as TUL is a major maintenance base/hub...could be wrong but that's my assumption.

Thanks. They sure made a rapid decent into Tulsa though. I went back and looked at the info from when they squawked and they were descending through FL42. Fifteen minutes later they were on the ground.

Yeah...those guys doing 'test flights' after heavy checks...or whatever level of check it is... with no passengers on board climb out of TUL like madmen...its fun to watch and on the altitude graph...I've seen them climb out at 5,000+ feet per minute...if you watch Tulsa and catch a 757, or and MD-80 on a 9XXX flight number...9614 (for example) take a look at the altitude graph...pretty good stuff.

Still interesting though that FA showed that tail number over the Atlantic while I was watching that. Obviously one was wrong, but which? No way for me to tell.
