I found this nice breakdown of the basic three models for your further understanding of the F-35 Lightning

F-35A — CTOL variant. The lightest, fastest accelerating, fastest climbing & co-equal greatest combat load (18,000 lb of fuel & 18,000 lb of weapons) and combat radius (670 nmi). It features a 25 mm internal gun. It is a genuine, very lethal Swiss army knife that does everything well.

F-35B — VTOL/STOL/STOVL/CTOL variant. The most technically complex fighter in existence & is the second best F-35 at acceleration & climb, but with the smallest combat load & combat radius. It features a mission-specific de-mountable external gun pod. It is an amazingly flexible piece of work. It can take of in 550 ft in tropical conditions & zero wind with a 5000 lb internal weapon load & 15,000 lb of fuel, fly a 450 nmi outbound leg, engage in combat & return 450 nmi & land vertically. Alternatively, it can carry 15,000 lb of ordnance, 15,000 lb of fuel & take off in less than 8,000 ft at its MTOW

F-35C — CTOL/CATOBAR variant. Carrier aircraft that is the heaviest F-35, with slowest acceleration & climb. Co-equal to the the F-35A in weapons load & combat radius & also has a mission-specific de-mountable external gun pod.

All 3 F-35s have the same 10-shot A-A weapons capability & all three have M 1.6 software-limited speed capability.
