Well that's a new one for me. I used to work USCG C-130s as a tower controller at KMCC in Sacramento, never knew they had this aircraft now in the inventory. Looks like it would be a lot more economical.

They got a deal from the USAF (ANG), wound up cutting their CN-235 (HC-144) orders in order to pick up the C-27's.

The brown exhaust stain on the gear sponson makes me think “So that’s where they dump the leftover coffee.”
