Great photo, how were you able to get such a great picture?

I lived about a mile away from the Canadair factory in Montreal when I was a kid. It was not an uncommon site for CL-41s to fly over our house in the early 60s. As for that photo, truly spectacular! Looks like it was taken from another Snowbird. Just gorgeous!

Too old to still be flying.

Just for the records, the plane is a Canadair CT-114 Tutor. Splendid photograph!

Type designator is CL41. Please don't make them up, it means they're not properly searchable in the photos database.

A great aerial of a classic little jet replete with red, white and blue hues.

The Canadair Tutor was a great training plane when it debuted back in the 60s.
In classic Canadian government style, their service life keeps being extended and it's questionable whether they should still be flying, especially for airshow demonstrations. The daughter of a colleague was killed a few years back when one of these things flamed out at low altitude and she was unable to eject safely.

There have been many accidents with Tutors over the last couple of decades. It may be time to put these old girls out to pasture. They've certainly done their national service.

Too old to be still flying, Jim? The pilots actually looks quite young.
