Aircraft is Certified by the FAA as a glider, not Experimental. Built by Aeromot of Brazil in 2000. Aeromot ceased production in 2008. USAFA used aircraft type to train cadets from about 2000 to about 2007. Ximango belongs to a class of aircraft called Touring Motor Gliders. Can be flown as an aircraft or as a glider, or both. Full feathering prop allows glide ratio of 31 to 1, with a sink of 190 feet per minute in the glider mode. Comparable performance to a C172 in aircraft mode. 100hp Rotax 912.
