Flew on one from SFO to LAX back in ‘76 and the front half was a freighter and the rear was for pax.

You did not fly on a Western Air Lines 727 that was a combo. I was a B-727 Captain at Western until we merged with Delta and we did not have any 727's converted to half freighter. We had Electra's that were converted, but no Boeing 727's. Maybe some other airline.

Also, that is a B-727-200, not a -100, and it is,or was, WAL not WAE Western Air Express ceased being many years ago and the name was changed to Western Air Lines.
