The flaps are in a takeoff configuration and the gear isn't down. It is doubtful that it is moments from landing.

I stand corrected based on the configuration of the aircraft. I took the photo from Sandy Hook NJ as it flew to the southwest at 2:28 P.M on 12/13/15.
The activity log for that time period shows it arriving at JFK at 1:32 p.m. and then departing JFK at 4:10 for LA. So why did I see it at all? It should of been fueling up at a JFK terminal when I took the picture? So anyone care to comment..........
