What a lovely old plane.

I flew in that in June of 2013 with EAA. What a thrill that was as we flew out of the Lawerence Massachusetts airport. It's quite an aircraft.

@Jeff excellent photo. The ICAO code is TRIM, not 4ATE.

Great plane. Several years ago on my only visit to Osh Kosh I rode in this. Such a great experience I bought another ticket. The captain flew for NWA, I remember.
My mother's first plane ride was in a Ford Tri-motor. Probably 1920's in Troy NY.

This exact same aircraft is featured in the August issue of Airliner World magazine.

This pic (and the one below) reveal that the overhead cockpit door is open! Must have been a hot day!

I very fortunately got some 'real' right seat time in a Ford back in the 1960's. Super fun, but - you'd better be physically strong to make it go!

Doug, only two shots of a Ford are hardly enough!!

Dave Grimm. Your Mother's first plane ride in Troy area, most likley would have been Westerlo Island Airfield in the city of Albany. Or in 1928 the new airport was built at the current site KALB.
Or it flew out of a patch of grass in the Troy area. Back then who knows?
Check out Albany County airport history on wikipedia and let me know what you think.
I walk my dog next to KALB at the historic Shaker Heritage area right next to KALB.

This was similar to the aircraft where I flew for the first time in my life, long time ago (1954/5). It was a military one and it belongs to the FAP (Força Aérea Portuguesa). It was German manufactured transport plane (JU). Good old days where we fly for real. Today after more then 500 hours in the air, I just sit down on my "sofá" and after 2/3 pictures or a few hours of sleep, someone says: we just arrived to the X airport and that's all folks. I'm looking forward to fly NY - Sidney in 5/6 Hours...
