From Lockheed as a TR-1A (Tactical Recon) and delivered to USAF as 80-1069.br /1983 .... Damaged by collision with vehicle at RAF Alconbury. Repaired.br /** 1988 .. Released to NASA (Ames Research Center) for conversion to ER-2; assigned to Moffett Field, CA. Painted white, registered N708NA; IDed as NASA 708.br /1996 ..... Recalled by USAF to replace a w/o U2. Sent for conversion.br /1997 ..... Converted to U-2S, repainted back to black*, and returned to USAF as 80-1069.br /br /* At its appearance at Wings Over Solano 2022, there were numerous places where the black paint had peeled off and white was showing.  It was that situation that prompted me to research the history of 80-1069 which resulted in my discovering that it had been painted white while it was assigned TDY to NASA.

1980 ..... From Lockheed as a TR-1A (Tactical Recon) and delivered to USAF as 80-1069.
1983 .... Damaged by collision with vehicle at RAF Alconbury. Repaired.
** 1988 .. Released to NASA (Ames Research Center) for conversion to ER-2; assigned to Moffett Field, CA. Painted white, registered N708NA; IDed as NASA 708.

* At its appearance at Wings Over Solano 2022, there were numerous places where the black paint had peeled off and white was showing.
