McDonnell Douglas FA-18 Hornet (16-8379) - An EA-18G Growler of the VAQ-133 "Wizards" approaches runway 31L at NAS Fallon. Not only is this the first picture of 168379 to be posted into the FA gallery, but (according to the data indicated below) it is also the very first photo of a Growler to be presented. ** That data must be erroneous. I find it extremely improbable that in a gallery as huge as FAs, there is no earlier post of an EA-18G so over the next few days Ill try going back thru all the previous Super Hornet posts; there HAS to be a shot of a Growler (probably accidentally mislabeled as a Super Bug). If I find one, Ill pass it on.

Excellent capture, Gary! I really like your military pics! What airbase is this? Seen in Daily Newsletter!

Great shot Gary! I have photos posted of EA-18G's but any attempt to list the aircraft type as anything other than a 'F18' is disallowed as 'invalid aircraft type'.

Thanks again, Dwight. NAS Fallon is Naval Air Station Fallon, where TopGun is located.

Leland, first, Thank you for the compliment. Regarding the EA-18G, I was certain that this could not have been the first pic of one in a gallery as huge as FA's.

Just FYI (for whenever you post in the future), you can only enter a total of four letters/numbers (such as E18G, not EA18G). And also, you must make the entry during your initial upload process. It WILL accept the designation but only during initial upload. If you wait and go back in a couple minutes, it won't accept (it will tell you it is invalid). And if you enter it initially (such as E18) and then you go back to try to correct it (such as to add a "G"), it won't accept the change AND it ALSO will reject the E18 designation. You MUST enter it during initial upload and then leave it alone from then on. That's the way it has worked ever since I joined back in 2008. Hope this info helps you in the future. :-)

Update: This EA-18G Growler was damaged during an attempted landing aboard the carrier John C. Stennis in the South China Sea on May 29, 2016. Per the USN report the aircraft was left non-flyable after the incident.
