Some of the hundreds of US Marines boarding this flight had been stranded here in Reno since Saturday when an Omni Air International Triple 7 that was enroute to pick them up was forced to divert to Dallas. Those Marines had been given rooms at a downtown Reno Casino, and the ones I spoke with did not seem to be very upset about being stranded in Reno for three days.

This is one of a rapidly dwindling number of passenger-configured 747s. Thanks to everyone who made it possible for me to tour this wonderful aircraft, and Thanks also to each of the 14 flight attendants who welcomed me as I went thru their aircraft.

Dang, I remember like it yesterday, the first time I saw a 747 flying. January 1970. Huge white whale with giant blue meatball over great south bay, long island, about 2,000ft inbound to "Idlewild". Now I feel hugely...old...Nice image

30 years old and still kicking! This has to be one of the oldest 747-400's still in service. I wonder if it still has the old CRT displays or if they have been upgraded.
